What A Day

So I’m a big history nerd. I love The History Channel and always really loved history classes in school (nerd, nerd, nerd, I know.).

I’ve been wanting to do a semi-regular post on interesting or odd or notable things in history and today seemed like a pretty interesting one, as far as days in history go.

So here are some notable births, deaths, and events in history that all occurred on June 30th.

Independence Day in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Lena Horne in 1917

Mike Tyson in 1966

Matisyahu in 1979

Gone With the Wind was published for the first time in 1936

The Guiding Light aired for the first time in 1952

The first Chevrolet Corvette rolled off the assembly line in Flint, Michigan in 1953

The first book from the immensely popular series Harry Potter (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) was published in 1997
